One of the men arrested in connection with a murder in Grimes County in 2016 has been found guilty.

(Grimes Co. Jail)

45-year-old James Daniel “Danny” Green of Bedias was found guilty of the murder of Jason Currie of Madisonville.  Sentencing in Green’s trial has begun.

Green, along with 26-year-old Colton Joe Manning of Madisonville, were charged with the murder of Currie in the summer of 2016.  According to probable cause statements, Green admitted that he and Manning shot Currie during what was considered a drug deal gone bad.

Currie was reported missing on June 25th, 2016, last seen in the Bedias area.

A friend of Currie’s reportedly told authorities he and Currie had gone to meet Green and Manning at Green’s residence in Bedias to purchase methamphetamine.

That friend said a fight broke out between the group, and Currie was shot by Manning and Green.  The friend escaped, but later crashed his truck after losing control of it.

When authorities questioned Green, they say he admitted that he and Manning shot Currie and dumped it in one location.  Authorities say Green told them he and Manning moved the body the next day to a creek bed located off County Road 142.  Currie's remains were eventually found there on July 13th, according to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.

The trial for Manning is expected to start later this year.
