Officials with Tempur Sealy have announced they have reached an agreement with Mattress Firm, ending a bitter two-year separation of the bedding giants.
Tempur Sealy, which has a manufacturing plant in Brenham, this week announced it reached an agreement with Mattress Firm, the nation's largest mattress retailer, to sell lucrative Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and Sealy-branded mattresses through the Houston-based retailer.
The products will start appearing in Mattress Firm's 2,500 stores nationally in the fourth quarter.
Industry analysts say both of the companies struggled to sell mattresses without the other. Officials estimate the renewed partnership could result in an additional 75-to-100 million dollars in earnings for Tempur Sealy.
Tempur Sealy's stock ended the trading day Tuesday up 1.25 percent to $70.43 per share.
The acrimonious tension between Tempur Sealy and Mattress Firm led to the two bedding heavyweights quarreling in court over accusations of breach of contract and trademark infringement over Mattress Firm's Therapedic line of memory foam mattresses.
