Texas Heroes Day acknowledges the sacrifices made by those who lived and fought during the Texas Revolution.

Attendees will be able to see demonstrations of pioneer crafts and artifacts, meet with Texas Army re-enactors, and hear cannons and musket volleys as they salute the Texas Heroes during a wreath laying ceremony.  There will also be an auction of historic flags, photos, books and other documents.

The program begins Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in the library, with a presentation on “The Men of Mier and Dawson”.

Saturday’s program will begin at 9 a.m. at the park with a performance from the Monument Hill Singers, followed by descendant and historian Dr. Paul Spellman telling of his ancestor Zadock Woods.

Saturday evening will conclude at 6:30 p.m. at the museum, with the La Grange High School Drama Club and Fayette County Community Theatre Young Actors performing “Living the Texas Revolution”.

Monument Hill State Historic Site is located at 414 State Spur 92 in La Grange.  Admission to the event is free.
