TEXAS SOLDIER KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN

A soldier from Texas has been killed in combat operations in Afghanistan.

40-year old Sergeant Major James G. "Ryan" Sartor was killed Saturday during combat operations.  Sartor, a Special Forces Green Beret, was a native of Teague, about 40 miles east of Waco.

A statement from the Department of Defense says Sartor was wounded by enemy small arms fire. The incident is under investigation.

Sartor was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, Colorado.

Sartor had deployed seven times to Iraq and Afghanistan.  He has received dozens of awards and decorations and will posthumously receive a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
