THREE CUBS; TWO PANTHERS SIGN LETTERS-OF-INTENT
Three members of the 2014 Brenham Cubs football team and two Burton Panthers have inked letters-of-intent on National Signing Day.
Cubs’ seniors Ernest Patterson, Caleb Hill and Jaquay Cross all have signed with the Blinn College Buccaneers.
Patterson, the Cubs’ all-time leading rusher, ran for 2,332 yards and scored 35 touchdowns, giving him 5,076 yards and 67 total touchdowns for his career.
Hill threw for 2,281 yards and 26 touchdowns, while running for 286 yards and seven touchdowns.
Cross had a school-record 1,116 yards receiving and tied the school record with 18 touchdowns catches.
All three join a Blinn Buccaneer offense that led the NJCAA, averaging over 650 yards per game.
Meanwhile, the Burton Panthers had a pair of senior standouts sign letters, including Louis Brown with Oklahoma State and Luke Huffer with Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Brown is rated a 4-star recruit by 247Sports, who rates him the #49 top overall player in Texas.
Huffer recorded 103 tackles, while intercepting four passes and returning seven punts for touchdowns.
Congrats to all these guys. I really enjoyed watching the guys in green and will miss seeing them on the field next year. Good luck at Blinn! Go Cubs!!
Way to go Panthers! The hard work paid off.
So proud of our two Burton boys!! What a great example for the younger Panthers to see you can be from a small town and still go to big schools! I wish Louis and Luke the best of luck for a very successful future!! GO BIG RED!!!
