THREE GRIMES CO. BRIDGES INCLUDED IN NEXT ROUND OF TxDOT BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

TxDOT’s next phase of bridge replacements will begin soon, and a handful of bridges in Grimes County are a part of it.

In a recent Grimes County Commissioners court meeting, County Road and Bridge Engineer Harry Walker said TxDOT currently has three bridge projects set for 2023.

Walker said the bridges TxDOT is eyeing are County Road 201 at Mill Creek, County Road 215 at Bums Creek, and County Road 412 at Grassy Creek.  He said there is a possibility the bridge project at County Road 201 could be moved up to 2021.

Typically, the program asks for counties to contribute 10 percent financially to a project, but TxDOT has waived that, instead allowing Grimes County to cover the replacement of other, smaller bridges.

Instead of the 10 percent participation cost, the county will be responsible for replacing the bridges at County Road 112 at one of the tributaries of Bedias Creek, County Road 204 at Small Creek, and County Road 323 at Beason Creek.
