TOY TIME BOOST ATTENDANCE AT STAR OF THE REPUBLIC MUSEUM

The Star of the Republic Museum at the Washington On the Brazos State Park has seen a ten percent increase in attendance in the past year due to a popular exhibit that is drawing more children to the museum.

More than 27,500 visitors came out to the Museum in a year’s time.  Museum Director Houston McGaugh credits the boost in attendance to the Toy Time exhibit.  This is an interactive exhibit that featured 16 large scale versions of popular folk toys.  The Museum usually sees about 25,000 visitors in a year.

Toy Time, created by Tom Wilson of Museum Productions, features toys that date back more than 300 years, and some of the exhibit’s hand crafted versons stood as tall as six feet. Visitors were encouraged to play with the toys, including  ‘Jacob Ladders’ ‘Whimmy Diddle’  ‘Bird on a Pole’ and others.
