TRAIN AND TRUCK COLLIDE IN NAVASOTA ACCIDENT

  

A train and pickup truck collided Monday morning on County Road 420 in Navasota.

Authorities say a Silverado pickup was travelling north on County Road 420 from Business 6 when the collision occurred.  The truck was hit on the passenger side and was pushed almost 15 feet off the track. The driver of the truck was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan for minor injuries.

The BNSF train did not derail, however it did sustain scratches and damage to its front end.

While the investigation is ongoing, initials reports say the driver may have attempted to bypass that guard rails at the crossing.

Both the Department of Public Safety and BNSF are investigating the incident.
