Two Brenham residents are in custody after their arrests as part of an on-going check counterfeiting investigation.

Brenham Police arrested 23-year old Jesniqua Kimble and 22-year old Travis Cooper, both of Brenham, in an investigation into counterfeit checks that are being passed locally and in Harris County.

According to Brenham Police, a vehicle the two were in was caught on a local store’s surveillance video.  That store is reportedly one where the counterfeit checks were allegedly passed.

Police say Kimble and Cooper were arrested Monday afternoon when they went to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to file a report on an unrelated incident.

Authorities report that approximately 15-to-20 of the counterfeit checks were found in the car the pair were driving.

Brenham Police Detective Joseph Merley and authorities in Harris County have been working this case since May 30.

More arrests could be forthcoming.
