TWO ARRESTED IN WEEKEND DWI’S IN BRENHAM

Two men are facing charges after separate DWI arrests in Brenham this weekend.

Officer Heather Sowders responded to a three-vehicle accident Friday night, just before 7:30 in the 1000 block of West Main.

According to Sowders, a Ford SUV collided with a trailer being hauled by a pickup and then struck another vehicle.

Sowders says 46-year old Steven Patrick Wackar of Brenham was the driver of the SUV and refused to take a sobriety test.

He was charged with Second Offense Driving While Intoxicated.

Saturday, just before midnight, Officers Kevin Mertz and Lance Weiss were attending to a call at 4-Corners Exxon on Highway 290 West, when a vehicle jumped the curb, become airbone and landed in the parking lot.

Police say 31-year old Bruce Lee Gambrel of Shiner failed his field sobriety test.

Gambrel was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Driving with a Suspended License with a Previous Conviction.
