Two Elgin residents face drug charges after their arrests following a traffic stop in Washington County.
36-year old Rochelle Diane Martinez and 44-year old Jason Torres were pulled over by Deputy Chris Garcia in the 9000 block of US Highway290 East, Sunday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, Garcia smelled the strong odor of marijuana. During the course of a search, marijuana and other drugs were found. Additionally, a felony amount of liquid THC was also located inside the vehicle.
Martinez and Torres were taken into custody.
Martinez was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and is currently out on bonds totaling $9,500.
Torres was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was released after posting bonds in the amount of $6,500.
The drugs, along with the vehicle, and a large amount of cash were seized as a result.
