TWO IN CUSTODY AFTER TROOPER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN COLLEGE STATION

Two people are in custody after authorities say shots were fired at a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper overnight.

The trooper returned fire, but no one was injured during the incident.

The northbound feeder road of Texas 6 between Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road was shut down until 6 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning while authorities collected evidence at the scene.

The incident happened when the trooper, whose name has not been released, pulled over a 2004 Acura around 12:30 a.m. It is not clear when the shots were fired, but authorities say the driver, whose name has also not been released, was taken into custody.  The passenger in the car took off in the vehicle, crashing a short distance away.

College Station Police, search dogs, and a DPS helicopter canvassed the area. The passenger was taken into custody approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after the search began.

KWHI will update this story as more details become available.
