TWO KILLED IN PURSUIT ON I-10 IN FAYETTE CO.

Two people were killed Wednesday in a crash following a pursuit involving Fayette County authorities.

Around noon, a Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on I-10 on a Honda Pilot reportedly stolen out of San Antonio.  When the deputy activated his lights, the vehicle sped off traveling westbound.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the car attempted to pass an 18-wheeler on the emergency shoulder, but lost control and left the roadway, rolling several times before coming to a stop on the service road near the 668 mile marker, close to the Engle exit.

The two men inside the vehicle were ejected and died at the scene.  Their identities have not been released.

DPS investigated the crash, while Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Charles Zapalac conducted the inquest.  Other agencies on scene included Fayette County EMS and the Flatonia Police Department.
