TxDOT BEGINNING WORK TUESDAY ON HIGHWAY 290 BETWEEN BRENHAM AND BURTON

Starting today (Tuesday), TxDOT will begin rehabilitating existing bridge decks at Holle Creek, Sheppard Creek, and Ganske Creek along Highway 290, between Brenham and Burton.

The three creek crossings are all within a mile of one another, and are located near the Nueces Canyon Ranch and Artesian Park RV Campground.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project.  TxDOT says drivers should expect delays, and encourages them to watch for traffic control and messages.  They are also encouraged to plan for extra travel time or seek other routes, if possible.

The project is contracted to James Construction Group, LLC.  According to TxDOT’s online project tracker, the total cost for the three bridge decks is $1.06 million.  The project is expected to be complete in September.

  1. FYI…this is the same James Construction group that is building the bridges on Hwy 105 over the Brazos River, Navasota River, and Coles Creek. They started that project in 2014. Only one bridge is complete, the one over the Navasota River. The Brazos River bridge is finally in-process. The one over Coles Creek has sat in limbo with half demolished bridge rails since 2016, yet it was the first one being built.

  2. Hwy FM 50 might be a city job because of the city airport being there. Also, there is Burleson St. that has been under construction for ever. city street jobs take a lot longer to complete.

  3. Can they please fix FM 50 this is getting ridiculous. It been tore up for 6 months .
    It still is not repaired.
