Bob Colwell, Public Information Officer for TxDOT’s Bryan District, said TxDOT determined after reviewing the crashes and the contributing factors for them that the beacon and extra lighting would “increase the overall safety of the intersection.”

TxDOT officials say the new lights should help increase the safety of the intersection.

Work is contracted to Allstate Signal and Construction.  According to Colwell, this location is part of a larger project that covers locations throughout Washington and Burleson counties.  This project is bundled with five safety-related projects at a construction cost of $608,184, and is funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

The project is estimated to be completed by the beginning of February.
