TxDOT TO FIX SAGGING FLYOVER

Work is set to begin on repairs to a sagging flyover on Highway 290 in Brenham.

Soil settlement on the FM 577 flyover has resulted in a portion to drop several inches.

TxDOT resident engineer Mark Shafer says it’s a settlement of the embankment on either side of the bridge – not any kind of problem with the bridge itself.

A private contractor has been hired by TxDOT to level the flyover, which would entail the injection of a foam-like substance that expands and raises with the concrete.

The flyover was part of improvements on Highway 290 completed several years ago.

  1. About time… Hopefully they fix both bridges. Too bad the ‘new construction” already needs repairs. Maybe the TxDOT inspectors that sit in the a/c in their pick-up should get out and actually inspect the work being done, ie- soil compaction, level road surface, etc… Those particular rough areas caused thousands of dollars of repair to my truck and trailers. Too bad I have to pay for it and not the state.
