A U.S. Navy sailor with Washington County roots has been deployed overseas.

Cornelius Sammons, of Chappell Hill, was deployed Friday at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego.

Sammons, a 1st Class Aviation Electronics Technician, is assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.   The Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment to the Indo-Pacific.

  1. Gods speed and thank you for your service, hope your family stays strong. It is difficult at times, my son is in the Navy and has been for over 20 years, many deployments. Be safe sailor??
