UNITY THEATRE TO FEATURE DRAMA “BREADCRUMBS”

Unity Theatre in Brenham is preparing to put on the final play in this year’s Studio Series: “Breadcrumbs”.

Penned by American playwright Jennifer Haley, “Breadcrumbs” delves into the world of dementia telling the story of two troubled women: Alida, a fiction writer in her 60s, and Beth, a nurse’s aide in her late 20s.

Beth does what she can to help the famous Alida, a recluse battling the onset of Alzheimer’s. As flashbacks show episodes from Alida’s childhood, the background of the two women become parallel, each of them lost and searching for breadcrumbs to find their way back home.

Ron Jones, the Artistic Director of Celebration Theatre in Houston, will direct the two-woman show. Celeste Roberts will play Alida, and Shanae’a Moore will take on the role of Beth.

“Breadcrumbs” runs May 9th to May 19th in the Studio space at Unity Theatre.  Show times are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 4 p.m.  The preview performance on May 9th includes a talk-back with the cast and crew following the show, and May 18th’s show will have a chat with the director prior to the performance.

Tickets are $25, and they are reserved; however, $17 tickets are available for the preview, student tickets are $15, and all unsold seats are $15 at 15 minutes before any performance. Circle Members and subscribers can begin making their reservations Tuesday, April 23rd, and tickets go on sale to the public on April 29th.
