VIDEO – SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN COMES THROUGH BRENHAM

The Special Olympics Torch Run made its way across Brenham this (Thursday) morning. Law enforcement officers from all across Texas ran with the Special Olympics torch as it takes its tour through the town.  The run began at the Higgins Branch South parking and moved down South Market Street.  The runners turned left at Main Street where they were greeted by the cheers from a group of students from the First Baptist Church School.  After giving the students high fives, the runners proceeded down Main Street, past the courthouse to North Park Street where the run concluded at Henderson Park.

The Special Olympians of the Brenham Independent School District cheered the runners on from a trailer just ahead of them.  Special Athlete Cristian Grawunder ran with the Torch Runners through downtown.

Grawunder will also be the lone Brenham representative competing at the games and will be part of the games’ opening ceremonies as a torch bearer.
