WACO ISD SUPERINTENDENT REACHES PLEA DEAL IN ROBERTSON CO.

The Superintendent of the Waco School District has reached a plea agreement on a marijuana possession charge.

The plea agreement means, A. Marcus Nelson could have the misdemeanor marijuana charge dismissed if he completes a 90-day diversion program.

Milam Co. District Attorney Coty Siegert says it’s a common option offered to offenders who have cooperated and have no criminal history.  Siegert says if Nelson goes 90 days without any violations, the charge will be dismissed.

Nelson was arrested by a DPS trooper earlier this month in Robertson County following a traffic stop on U.S. 190 south of Hearne.

Nelson was also ordered to pay a $500 fine as part of the deal. The agreement was signed Friday morning.
