Several neighborhood block parties were held in Brenham and Washington County, giving neighbors the chance to meet one another along with local officers and emergency personnel.

The Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters and other emergency responders travelled to block parties from 6 to 9 p.m.

KTEX-106 and KWHI 1280 were also out and about Tuesday night, making their way through Brenham, Burton, Caldwell, Giddings, Somerville, and Millheim.

This year’s theme was “Life’s a Beach”, and the weather certainly felt more like summer than fall.

National Night Out was established in 1984 as a crime prevention program that works to build a relationship between the community and the police.

  1. Whatever is done for anyone anywhere, it’s never QUITE ENOUGH for some people is it ?
For heaven’s sake, put on the repellent before you go, or take a can along. You might even share the repellent with someone.

    1. If this reply posts twice, I apologize. Maybe I didn’t do something right the first time.

I said it seems when anyone or any group does something nice or positive, it’s never QUITE ENOUGH for some people.
For heavens sake. Put on some repellent before you go, and maybe even take some along to share with someone else.

      1. I thank everyone for offering their homes and driveways to have this great opportunity to meet our neighbors or just have great snack and cold drinks. I do not live in town but if you go outside in the evening time after a few days of good rain showers your very aware of the flies or mosquitoes that could be available for a snack or cold “bite” lol

Last – I thank all the community’s employees that help this great city to be safe and rush to aid in time of need. That’s what this comment section should be about not to complain or ask someone to bring their own spray…

        1. I am not criticizing the organizers. I agree with you. You’re sharing food and fellowship, just throw a can of spray in also, “just in case.”
You go to a Cub ball game outdoors, you probably gear up similarly.
The Night Out initiative is a great idea for neighbors to get to know neighbors as well as interacting with the Responders when there isn’t a crisis.

      2. Bingo. People who are the first to complain, seem to also be the last to contribute.

    2. Geez. They could spray every day and the stupid mosquitoes would come back as soon as the spray truck is our of sight. I hate those things. Spray yourself!
