WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS MEET TO RENEW RESOLUTION

Washington County Commissioners renewed only one of a pair of resolutions on their agenda at today’s (Tuesday) meeting.

Commissioners dealt with resolutions pertaining to tax abatement requirements in the county, as well as funds granted to the Washington County Healthy Living Association (WCHLA).

The first resolution certified that the county has granted funds this year to the WCHLA, and it approves WCHLA’s accounting system so it can qualify for funds from the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program.

Commissioner Kirk Hanath said this item is “basically housekeeping,” as it is done every year. He commended the WCHLA on their work, saying they’ve “really done some good things.”

The second resolution, concerning guidelines for tax abatements for reinvestment zones, was no longer necessary to cover, according to Commissioner Joy Fuchs. She said the resolution has already been approved for this year, and will not need renewal until next December.

The court also approved a mass gathering permit for the upcoming Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival. The deadline to enter for the contest is next Monday, October 1st.

Commissioners also approved formal notices for a road bore, a temporary water line, and utility installations. The utility installations are for natural gas pipelines by Aspen Midstream Pipeline on roads in Precinct 4.  The roads affected include Century Farm Road, Boehnemann Road, Old Mill Creek Road, Wild Flower Road, Hohenwalde School Road, and Fuchs Road.

Members of Washington County 4-H with commissioners at Tuesday's meeting. Commissioners proclaimed Oct. 7-13 as National 4-H Week in Washington County.

Commissioners also heard multiple monthly reports, and declared October 7th through the 13th as National 4-H Week in Washington County.
