WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HOST TAX HEARING

A public hearing on the proposed Washington County tax rate highlights the agenda for Tuesday morning’s Commissioners Court meeting.

The proposed rate of 51.7-cents per hundred dollars’ valuation is the same as the current rate, but will wind up costing county tax payers more, due to an over 3-percent increase in property values.  Of the tax rate, 37.8-cents goes to the general fund, 12-cents to county road and bridge, and just under 2-cents to debt service.

This is the first of two hearings on the tax rate.  The second will be Monday, September 10th at 5:15 p.m.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting:

Commissioners will hear recommendations for a architect to begin work on a new Emergency Communications/Emergency Operations Center.

Approve the purchase of body cameras and docking base for the Sheriff’s Office.

Approve an overhead electric line for Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative on Adamek Road in Precinct Four.

Approve a right of way permit for Odubb Riders for Pickens Road; and a right of way for the Chappell Hill Bank Classica Road Race on Main Street.

Also right of way requests from the Washington County Fair for Fair Trail Ride and the Antique Farm Machinery Tractor Ride on East Blue Bell Road.

County Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at 9:00 at the County Courthouse.
