WASHINGTON CO. COVID-19 RECOVERIES NOW SURPASS ACTIVE CASES; VIDEO UPDATE COMING FRIDAY

The number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Washington County now exceeds the number of active cases.

Wednesday, the county reported its 206th and 207th cases in two women, one from Brenham and one from Burton, in their 20s and 50s.  The two are among the county’s 87 active cases.  Six patients remain hospitalized, and 27 have died from complications with the virus.

After 11 new recoveries were reported Wednesday, the county now has 93 recovered cases.  Ten of the recoveries were reported in patients at the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (BNRC), which itself has a total of 40 recoveries.

At the BNRC, 87 residents and 24 employees make up the facility’s 111 positive cases, with 47 of them being active.  One patient is hospitalized, while 24 have died.

As of Wednesday, an estimated 2,162 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the county, with 223 of those coming from the BNRC.

The Washington County Joint Information Center (JIC) is planning to release a video update tomorrow (Friday) morning featuring Washington County Health Authority Dr. William Loesch, Brenham Mayor Milton Tate, and Washington County Judge John Durrenberger.
