WASHINGTON CO. DISTRICT ATTORNEY INDUCTED INTO “TEXAS PROSECUTOR’S SOCIETY”

Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken was recently recognized at a state conference.

Julie Renken (back row, third from left) is recognized, along with other Texas District and County Attorneys' Association members at the annual TDCAA conference.

Last week, Renken was inducted into the “Texas Prosecutor’s Society” at an annual conference of elected officials, held by the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association (TDCAA).  The Society is administered by a non-profit foundation that supports the TDCAA and prosecutors across the state.

A small group of active and retired prosecutors is inducted each year into the Society, nominated at-large by colleagues and voted on by members of the Foundation.

Induction reflects long-term contributions to the profession through time and service, along with dedication to training and education of other prosecutors.

Renken began working in Washington County as an Assistant District Attorney in 1996, and would then serve as County Attorney for 12 years after being elected in 2000.  In 2012, she was elected District Attorney for Washington and Burleson Counties, and ran unopposed in the 2016 election.

In a statement from the District Attorney’s Office, Renken said she was honored to be inducted into the Society, and “will continue to serve the citizens in pursuit of justice”.
