WASHINGTON CO. OFFICIALS UPDATE PUBLIC ON STATE OF ROADS

Officials discussed the state of roads in Washington County at today’s (Tuesday) commissioners meeting.

County Engineer Ross McCall spoke on the county’s efforts to repair and replace damaged roads, saying many have experienced extensive damage.  He stated that several of those roads are “too far gone”, and will have to be fully repaired and not just patched up.

Some of the projects the Road and Bridge Department has been working on recently include adding rock to Raymond Lehmann Road and Whitebluff Lane, and repairing the bridges on Old Masonic and Old Navasota Roads.  In addition, crews have begun rehabilitation work on William Penn Road.

McCall said the Road and Bridge Department is planning to rip up sections of damaged paved roads and prepare them for new pavement later this summer.  He added this would allow patch crews to catch up on their workload.

McCall also stressed that the public report issues with roads directly to the Road and Bridge office via phone or email, not through Facebook.

  1. County Resident
The commissioners need to get out more and travel the roads in their precinct. This is also a part of their job and what they are elected to do for the constituents of their precinct.

  2. Why do they have to be reported? I see Road and Bridge employees drive down my road all the time.
