WASHINGTON CO. REPUBLICAN PARTY TO INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR VACANT PRECINCT TWO CONSTABLE POSITION

The Washington County Republican Party will soon begin interviewing candidates to fill the vacancy in the Precinct Two Constable’s office, created by the death of longtime Constable Carroll “Butch” Faske.

At their meeting June 9th, Washington County Commissioners opted to not immediately fill the post with a successor to Faske, who died in May after serving 31 years in the position.  Faske was set to run unopposed on the ballot for November’s General Election, after winning the March Primary.

Per Texas Election Code, the Republican Party will meet in August to interview candidates that are interested in running for the position.  The candidate must be a resident of Precinct Two in order to be considered.

County Judge John Durrenberger previously said the Republican Party’s precinct chairs have until August 23rd to replace Faske on the ballot with a new candidate.  That candidate, being unopposed, would be elected in November and sworn in in January.  In the meantime, the Precinct One Constable’s office will continue to cover Precinct Two until a new constable is in place.

If interested in applying for the post, contact Washington County Republican Party Chairman Sandra Kindt at washingtoncountytxgop@gmail.com, or call 979-525-1128.  The deadline to submit a resume is August 3rd.

According to Kindt, the Republican Party of Texas will honor Faske at the party’s state convention this month in Houston.
