WASHINGTON CO. REPUBLICANS CHOOSE BERG TO RUN FOR COURT-AT-LAW POST

Washington County Republicans have wasted no time in selecting a candidate to run for Judge Matthew Reue’s County Court at Law position.

The party’s Executive Committee selected assistant District Attorney Eric Berg to be on the November ballot.

Reue recently announced his retirement, effective July first.

Berg ran against Reue in the March 2014 Republican Primary for the post.  Reue won a very close race, by less than 60 votes.

Berg was one of three candidates who had expressed interest in running for the position.  The three were interviewed individually by the Executive Committee, Tuesday night.

The Chairman of the Democrat Party, George Dillingham, says they have not yet come up with a candidate, but will do so before the August 29th deadline.

The Washington County Commissioners Court will have the choice of appointing an interim judge to serve the post between July 1st and the November election.  The commissioners could also opt to use a number of visiting judges in the post.

  1. What is with the lack of sharing who the other two candidates were for the Republican nomination for County Court at Law. I know Eric and I think he will be an excellent candidate but why not share the names of the other two candidates. The public has a right to know. Did the media skip that important detail. If you, they should report it. If the executive committee is keeping those names private, they should not be so secretive. What’s to hid with sharing the names who sought the nomination. The public deserves an explanation.

  2. Well then, What about a Czech-Polish,Spanish or Swedish name????

I personally know Eric and he is an awesome attorney, reliable, fair and a pleasant person.

Congratulations Eric!!!!! You are most deserving of this appointment.
