WASHINGTON COUNTY VOTERS APPROVE CHANGES TO COMMISSIONERS COURT
The Washington County Commissioners Court will have a distinctively new look when it meets next January.
Incumbent Washington County Judge John Brieden and Precinct Two Commissioner Luther Hueske failed in their reelection attempts, Tuesday in the Republican Primary.
Brieden, who has served as County Judge since his election in 2010, was defeated by challenger John Durrenberger.
Durrenberger finished with 3,287 votes, compared to Brieden’s 2,219.

Durrenberger does not have a Democrat opponent in the general election in November.
In the Precinct Two race, challenger Candace Bullock defeated Hueske, 857-to-789 votes.
Bullock says this primary election has sent a message to local government…
Bullock will face Democrat Ira Newsome in November.
Hueske was also first elected to the Commissioners Court in 2010.
In the race for County Court-as-Law Judge, incumbent Eric Berg won re-election, defeating Brenham attorney Robbie Gail Cherette.
Berg says, in a race that was often contentious, the voters had the final say…
Berg garnered 4,017 votes to Charette’s 1,334. Berg does not have a Democrat opponent in the November election.
In the race for Precinct Four County Constable, Burton Police Chief Greg Rolling defeated H.C. “Buddy” Riddle, 697-601.
Rolling says he will be a ‘working’ constable…
No Democrats filed for the position.
