WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS SUNDOWN SOCIAL CANCELLED

After initially rescheduling this year’s Sundown Social, the Washington on the Brazos Historical Foundation has opted to cancel the event.

The annual benefit for the Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site, originally slated for April 25th at the Rockin’ Star Ranch in Brenham, was moved to August 29th amid COVID-19 concerns.  As the pandemic has carried on, event organizers felt it best to cancel this year’s gathering.

Foundation President Cyndee Smith said in lieu of rescheduling, the foundation will focus its efforts on the 185th celebration of Texas Independence and next year’s Sundown Social, set for April 24, 2021.  The social will honor two of the site’s greatest supporters: the late Mike and Nina Hopkins.

Smith thanked the foundation’s underwriters and sponsors that have assisted with fundraising efforts for their understanding and continued support.
