WEISS, OLSON, CALLAHAN NAMED ALL-STATE BASEBALL

Three local baseball players have been named All-State.

Two Brenham Cubs and a Burton Panther have been honored by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Brenham Cubs’ catcher Pierce Weiss and shortstop Jake Olson have been names 5A Second Team.  Burton Panthers’ shortstop Cash Callahan was selected to the 2A Second Team.

Weiss hit .320 for the Cubs this year, slamming four home runs, while driving in 17 runs and had a .388 on-base percentage.

Olson led the Cubs with a .376 average, with five doubles, 20 runs scored, 11 rbi’s, and a .457 on-base percentage.Callahan led the Panthers with a .364 average, with eight doubles, four homers, 35 runs scored, 32 rbi’s and a .466 on-base percentage.

Weiss and Olson helped the Cubs to a 20-13 mark and a Bi-District playoff berth.

Callahan helped the Panthers to a 38-10 mark and berth in the Region IV/2A finals.
