YOUNG RECEIVES CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONOR–AGAIN

Former Brenham Cubette volleyball star Caroline Young has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.

Young totaled 30 kills, 14 digs and four blocks in the two straight-set wins. She hit .654 against Tulane scoring 17 kills without an error in 26 attempts, and also had nine digs.  The Mustang senior had 13 kills and five digs in the win over Houston.

Young leads SMU with 3.13 kills per set, and has 272 kills on the season. Young has scored at least 10 kills in 19 matches, including each of the last six since returning to the front row after suffering an ankle injury at Memphis.

Young’s SMU teammate, Morgan Heise of Waller, was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and second straight week.

Heise had 39 digs, five assists and her first kill of the year in the two matches, averaging 6.5 digs per set. Against Tulane she tallied a match-high 20 kills and two assists, reaching 20 digs for the eighth time this season.

Heise followed that up with 19 digs, three assists and a kill at Houston. Heise has a 4.91 digs per set average, which is third best in the league, and is averaging 5.22 per set in conference matches, ranking second.
