YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM OFFERED

  

A Brenham church will be hosting a program for local adults on dealing with youth mental challenges.

St Peters’ Episcopal Church will hold a Youth Mental Health First Aid training event on Saturday September 21st.

This program is open to the public and is designed for adults that regularly interact with adolescents ages 12-18.  Included among those: clergy, youth group leaders, teachers, school staff, coaches, law enforcement, social workers, health care providers, parents, etc.

Participants will learn the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents.

The curriculum, designed by the National Council of Behavioral Health, has been successfully provided to almost 200,000 people across the U.S. in recent years.

The training is being offered to the community at no charge to participants, however space is limited to 30 people, so early registration is advised.

The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 2310 Airline Drive., Brenham.
