71ST ANNUAL GRIMES COUNTY FAIR TO OPEN 11 DAYS OF ACTIVITIES

  

The 71st Annual Grimes County Fair and Rodeo is scheduled to begin 11 days of activities starting tomorrow (Wednesday). 

Wednesday will feature the Leadline competition, along with Team Penning and Team Sorting.  On Thursday, they will hold the Speed Events and Top Hand competition. Friday will have the Working Cow/Reining and Ranch Trail competitions. 

This Saturday starts with the judging of the In-County Beef Heifer Show at 9am, followed by the Kid’s Rodeo at 10am.  They will have judging for Creative Arts, which include baked goods, horticulture, and food preservation.

Saturday concludes with the Kick Off Dance in the Main Hall at 8pm. They are having live music from Little Texas, Jon Wolfe, and Jeff Canada.  In addition to that, they are going to crown the Grimes County Fair Queen.

Tickets for the kickoff dance are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. They are also selling VIP Passes for $100.

Then, on Sunday, they are having the Weigh-Ins for the Market Steers, Lambs, Goats, and Swine.  After that, the Rodeo begins at 7pm.

The Grimes County Fair continues next week with event livestock judging on Monday and Tuesday, followed by Senior Citizens Day and Childrens Day on Wednesday, June 7.

On Thursday, June 8, they are having the Buyers’ Social and Supper at 5pm.  During the social, the Fair Association will hand out scholarships and other awards. Afterwards, the evening will continue with the premium sale at 6:30pm.

The Grimes County Fair and Rodeo concludes on Friday, June 9, with the Ranch Hand Rodeo and the Bull Buck Out on Saturday, June 10.
