BRENHAM ISD ADMINISTRATOR TAKES POST WITH BRYAN I.S.D.

A long-time Brenham ISD administrator is leaving for Bryan.

Monday night the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Michael Watts as principal of MC Harris, Bryan’s alternative campus for over-aged and under-credited students.

Watts, who served as principal of Brenham’s PRIDE Academy and Alternative Ed Program will oversee numerous programs, such as Star Academy, the newly formed middle school alternative education program.

Watts served as principal of the PRIDE Academy and DAEP in Brenham ISD since 2015. Prior to that, he held the positions of associate principal, assistant principal, teacher and coach for many years.

Watts holds a master’s degree in education from Prairie View A&M University, a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and an associate degree from Blinn College.

He is a former all-state baseball player from Brenham High School who played for two state championship-winning teams in 1986 and 1987.

  1. Known Mr. Watts since his HS days. Great personality and competitor in the day. Followed his rise in Brenham ISD. I expected him to one day be a top administrator and leader for the district. Every campus he worked with he was respected by staff, parents and students. He could relate to most any situation in Brenham, he had lived in the mix. Mr. Wallis of Bryan ISD has a very good record of finding people to address his districts needs. I suspect Mr. Watts will do well in Bryan ISD. Maybe someday the people of Brenham will ask him to return. I hope Brenham ISD and Mr. Watts did not burn any bridges. I encourage Mr. Watts to continue flashing that awesome smile, keep the swagger that comes with confidence and remain a positive influence on young people wherever God leads you.

  2. Brenham has lost a really good admin. due to a few bucks again !! Guess Bryan dosnt have “midpoint based” pay over there???

  3. This man has the respect of many employees & students. He could get kids to do things that NOONE else could. He was one of many reasons I pursued a masters degree in administration. So happy & Bryan ISD has gained an angel! You don’t need luck cause you’re endowed with FAVOR Mike! Be blessed ?

  4. Congratulations Mike !!!!! You so deserve this position. You have always been someone I highly respected and considered a good friend. You will be sorely missed in the Brenham school district, what a loss for them !!!! Good luck in your new job.
