BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON

A Brenham man was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday for assault.

Raymond Dabera, 34, was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of assaulting his girlfriend. The girlfriend reported that Dabera had grabbed her hair and began to choke her. He then began to punch her in the head and face. The girlfriend attempted to call the police, but Dabera broke her phone, and she was forced to run to a neighbor’s home to report the assault.

Dabera had fled the scene by the time police arrived on the scene. Officers noted the fresh scratches and cuts to the victim’s face, lip, and neck, and observed the victim’s swollen lip and face.

Dabera was located in March 2014, and was arrested for assault. Dabera pled guilty and was sentenced to four years.

Dabera was on probation at the time of his arrest for assaulting the same victim in 2010. His probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to four years for that assault also.

Assault Family ViolKBTX_RaymondDabera_Articleence, is a misdemeanor, but charged as a felony if the defendant had been previously convicted of a previous family violence offense.
