BURTON’S BRAZOS BELLE RESTAURANT SERVES UP FOOD WITH AN ACCENT

brazosbelleFEATUREA Burton restaurant is prominently featured in the March issue of Texas Highways magazine…the travel magazine of Texas.

Andre and Sandy Delacroix’s Brazos Belle Restaurant on Main Street in Burton is the subject of a four page story in the latest Texas Highways magazine.  For the past 12 years, Chef Andre Delacroix has been creating delicious French-inspired cuisine in a former 1871 general store.

Andre explains how they came to buy the Brazos Belle:

The Texas Highways article begins as follows:  “When you think of romantic French country fare, the Central Texas town of Burton (pop. 302) may not immediately come to mind.”  It goes on to say:  “On a typical evening, the aroma of simmering garlic and savory herbs greets visitors as they walk on creaky pine floors past an antique bar to the dining room, which is furnished with simple wooden tables and ladderback chairs.”

The article documents how Andre grew up in Tricot, France, a small village north of Paris.  After a stint as a cook in the French army, he worked at an upscale Paris restaurant and later as a chef with Club Med.  After marrying Sandy in the late ‘70’s, they moved to Houston where he became the chef de cuisine at the Four Seasons hotel.  The Delacroixs bought the old Brazos Belle building in Burton in 1989.  After several years of restoration, they opened their own restaurant….keeping the name “Brazos Belle”.

Andre’s wife Sandra explains the type of food on the menu:

Their menu features beef, pork, fish and chicken entrees cooked in classic French style, served with vegetables often grown in Andre’s own garden.  Just two of his entrees are the center cut filet mignon covered with whole green peppercorns, and the Pacific Salmon Filet seasoned in a fresh lemon grass marinadeWhile many people in Washington County have never experienced a meal at the Brazos Belle….those that have often tout it as one of the best restaurants in the area.  Chef Andre is ready to cook for you Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30, and Sundays from 11:30 to 1:30 at 600 North Main Street in downtown Burton.

  1. Our family loves the Chef Andre and the Brazos Belle. For us it is a special treat to make the drive from Spring and enjoy a wonderful meal. Thank you Andre and Sandy for giving our family some cherished memories.

  2. Brazos Belle is an amazing restaurant. I think one reason more locals do not take advantage is because the food is different. It is all delicious and they are missing out on a great experience. Try something new this weekend! I bet you’ll really enjoy it!

  3. I’ve been in Burton’s Brazos Belle a few times. My Uncle John Stanley’s ranch is near Burton. l’ve been to Burton many, many times with my family. It is one of my most favorite places to go when I get down that way. Burton and Stanley Ranch are two of my touch-stones when I’m in the area.
