CALDWELL WOMAN FLEES DPS AND FACES FELONY CHARGES

  

A 35-year old Caldwell woman turned a misdemeanor into two felonies when she fled from troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety Saturday night, and tossing a bag of marijuana along the way.

A trooper pulled over the older model Dodge passenger car for having a defective license plat.

The driver,  35-year old Thomas Giroux also of Caldwell was being questioned by the trooper when the passenger, Robin Pittman appeared agitated.  The trooper saw what he believed to be a small amount of marijuana ion a plastic bag.  The trooper placed Giroux in handcuffs but Pittman, standing outside the car, darted toward the driver’s seat and sped off.  The trooper stayed with Giroux but the suspect told him where Pittman could be. 

Pittman’s car was found at a residence on Moonlight Drive, covered with a tarp.  After Pittman was arrested, one of the residents told the troopers that she had disposed of the marijuana at a nearby gas station.

Pittman was charged with tampering with evidence, a third degree felony punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine, and evading arrest in a motor vehicle, a state jail felony.  She is also charged with possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. 

The driver was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.
