LIONS SPEAK TO ALTON CHILDREN ABOUT DRUGS

Ms. Rachael Phife’s third grade class at Alton Elementary School learned today (Wednesday) to ‘dream, believe, achieve and succeed,’ from the Lion’s Club.

Joe Al Picone of Brenham and the International Lion’s Club, joined members of the Washington County Lady Lions, the Brenham Noon and Evening Lions and the Blinn College Lions, in sponsoring the program, that encourages young people to stay drug free. Picone told the young people they need to follow their dreams but to stay drug free.  He said while handing out book marks to the class that  the Lions have been involved in programs to prevent drug abuse in young people for over 30 years and they have been making an impact.

The Lions Club presentation was part of Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide effort to reach young people in hopes they stay away from illegal drugs.  All of the schools in the Brenham District are having programs encouraging a drug free life style.
