LOBOS FINDS MISSING ELDERLY PERSON
Fayette County K9 Lobos proved today that he can not only find illegal drugs and cash, but can also find a missing person.
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that a call came in at 11 this (Thursday) morning that an elderly man with dementia had walked off from a house, in the Vista Ranch area of Fayette County. The caller advised they had been searching for about an hour and they were unable to locate him.
The Fayette County Sheriffs Office responded immediately with all available deputies and resources along with the Fayette County EMS and the La Grange Fire Department.
Sheriff’s Investigator Randy Thumann along with his canine partner, Lobos, set off in search of the man, along with a search team consisting of several deputies. Lobos followed a scent directly to the victim and located him behind an abandoned 18 wheeler trailer that was parked about 300 yards behind the residence. He was found within an hour upon notification of the Sheriffs Office.
The victim was found on the ground and seemed to be suffering from heat related symptoms. He was immediately transported by Fayette County EMS to Smithville hospital.
