The Maxwell Football Club has officially announced the college football stars who’ve earned consideration on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the top defensive player in the nation.
Former Brenham Cub and current Texas Longhorn junior defensive lineman Malcom Brown is on that watch list.
Brown helped lead the Cubs to the 2010 State Championship Game, was named All-State in 2011 and played in the Under Armor All-American Game.
In 2013, the 6-4, 320 pound tackle, started all 13 games for the Longhorns. He had 68 tackles—12 for loss, six quarterback pressures and shared the Joseph W. Moore Tenacity Award.
Among the others on the 2014 watch list are: Cedric Reed, DE, Texas; Quadry Diggs, CB, Taxas; Sam Carter, S, TCU; Devonte Fields, DE, TCU; Chucky Hunter, DT, TCU; Bryce Hager, LB, Baylor; and, Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor.
