NUMEROUS AUTO BREAK-INS AT LOCAL MOVIE THEATER

Brenham Police are investigating a number of break-ins while people were at the movies this past weekend.

Authorities were called out Saturday to Westwood Cinema in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.

A number of auto burglaries occurred during the 11:00 am and 2:00 pm showings.

All victims say windows in their vehicles had been smashed.  Taken were purses, credit cards and check books.

Police continue their investigation.

  1. To all our current and potential customers of the Westwood Cinema 6:

The Westwood Cinema 6 did have an incident this past Saturday where three cars in our parking lot were broken into during the day in between movie start times and end times. We do have a security camera system that covers our parking lot and the interior of our building. I, as the manager, promptly pulled the digital video footage and gave it to the police detective that was working the case.

We do have a security officer that works every Friday and Saturday night. These are the busiest times for our business and those times do warrant security. When I say security officer, the theatre pays out of pocket hourly for an armed Brenham police officer to patrol the premises including the parking lot.

As far as the other comments that were made about this particular news article. I can only assume that the comments did not come from a frequent customer or he would know we do all we can as a family owned independent theatre to take care of our customers and to ensure they have a wonderful, safe movie experience.

    — Mandi Landreth, Manager, The Westwood Cinema 6

  2. They really should consider adding a security officer at the movie theater or cameras, this is not the first time issues have occurred on the parking lot while people are watching movies.
