PVAMU STADIUM PROJECT “ON SCHEDULE”

Officials with Prairie View A&M and the Texas A&M System got a first-hand update, Thursday, on the massive renovations to Prairie View’s football stadium.

The university is in the middle of a multi-million dollar renovation project that is expected to be completed in time for the Panthers’ home opener in September.

The old stadium was demolished last year to make way for the $60 million facility.  Once it's completed, Panther Stadium will be transformed into a state of the art facility with seating for 15,000 people.

A&M System Chancellor John Sharp says once it’s completed, the stadium will be “…the finest football venue in all of Historically Black Colleges and Universities football.”

Sharp says the reason the project is important is because, “…the world pays attention to football, they pay attention to athletics," and calls the stadium, “a megaphone to speak to the rest of the world.”
