43 AUTO BATTERIES STOLEN FROM BRENHAM WAL MART
At least 43 auto batteries were stolen from the Brenham Wal-Mart in a pre-dawn theft Saturday.
Witnesses called Brenham police at 3:48 Saturday morning when they saw at least one man taking batteries from the automotive department and putting them in a U-Haul van.
By the time police arrived at the scene the van was gone. Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies found the van on a county road. The van had already benn emptied of the batteries but they did find one suspect. Thirty-nine year old Martin Hightower of Houston was arrested for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Other charges may be pending and the search for other suspects continues.
