WASHINGTON COUNTY ADJUSTING PURCHASING LIMITS
Washington County Judge John Brieden says things have changed enough in the county departments purchasing power and the rates need adjusting.
He says the limits on what a county official can spend on any item needs to fit current reality and at Tuesday’s meeting of the county commissioners, that’s what they will do.
Judge Brieden says some officials can simply purchase some minor items but then there is a level of authorization that is needed. Some purchases need the approval of an elected official. Some other purchases can be made without bids while others require a competitive bid.
These levels will be hashed out during Tuesday’s meeting.
The County Commissioners will also do some final work on the Texas Department of Transportation’s Transportation Infrastructure Fund. Judge Brieden says details the requirements needed to do this work are being worked out.
The County can receive over $300,000 in a grant from TxDot that would help the county repair and replace roads damaged due to the production of oil and gas.
The Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at nine at the courthouse.
