WASHINGTON COUNTY SEES RECORD FIRST DAY EARLY VOTING
County Clerk Beth Rothermel announced Wednesday that the first day of Early Voting for State Senator saw a record number of voters come out to vote.
971 people cast votes on Wednesday, which is the highest one-day total of Early Voters ever seen in Washington County.
Rothermel compared it to what she normally sees in a presidential race, and she hopes that voting will continue to be as brisk through the end of the voting period.
Local State Representative Lois Kolkhorst is one of five candidates to succeed Glen Hegar – who was elected State Comptroller on November 4th.
Kolkhorst is facing four other candidates for the position including Republicans Gary Gates and Charles Gregory, both businessmen from Richmond, along with two Democrats, Richmond business owner Cindy Drebek and Rosenberg attorney Christian Hawkins.
There will be no voting today and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Weekend voting is Saturday, November 29th, 9 am to 1pm, and Sunday, November 30th, 12-2pm.
Voting continues on Monday and Tuesday, 8am to 5 pm.
Election Day is Saturday, December 6th from 7am to 7pm.
