AUSTIN COUNTY JAILER TRAINING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes gave the Austin County Commissioners an update on jailer training program, which, he says, is ahead of schedule.

Brandes says that this has resulted in the return of ten prisoners from Fort Bend County to Austin County three weeks early.

That leaves 27 prisoners in the Fort Bend County Jail, with seventeen of those in the Austin County jail. Brandes hopes not to have to send anymore to Fort Bend County.

Brandes also says that the county has noted some gang activity, and that his narcotics officers are being proactive by “getting in the middle of that ASAP,” and that gang activity will not be tolerated.

Also, he and his deputies will be taking a four-hour Distracted Driver Course, which will be offered to all road and bridge employees as a one hour course.
