BRENHAM ISD MEETS WITH TASB COORDINATOR FOR SCHEDULING CHOOSING SUPERINTENDENT

  

The Brenham ISD school board met today  to discuss with Marian Strauss, TASB (Texas Association of School Board) coordinator, the schedule for hiring a new superintendent.

Strauss mentioned that the first meetings for this process would occur on January 8th, when Strauss and her staff would interview the individual schools and get their input, and would also involve some public sessions.

On January 20th, the TASB plans to have a written summary of all the meetings from the schools.

The deadline for applications for superintendent is midnight on February 18, and by February 19th, the TASB will process all the information about the applicants, and will be presented to the school board in a digital form by February 20th.

The candidates will them be arranged by type of job the applicant currently holds, i.e. superintendent, deputy superintendent, and on February 23rd, the board will be able to go through the resumes, and pick the Board’s top eight or ten candidates. From there the list will be narrowed to 6.

The first round of interviews are scheduled for March 2 through March 4th. The interviews will a 21 question, structured, (3 questions for each of the seven board members),the interview being 90 minutes long, and all of the candidates will have the same questions.

The second round of interviews should commence March 9-March 11th, and will include the candidate and their spouses, and there will be no time limit on these interviews.

On March 11th, there will be a report on the finalist.

On March 24th, that finalist will visit the schools, along with three Board members, and then on March 25th, those board members will report back on that school visit.

April 20th is the date set to name a new superintendent.
