BRENHAM POLICE ARREST TWO FOR DWI

On Tuesday at 11:28 pm, Officer Heather Sowders responded to the 1300 block of Prairie Lea to assist police officers with a traffic stop involving an intoxicated person.

Blinn Officers Keith Korthauer and Joe Espinoza said they saw a vehicle driving westbound on College Avenue which failed to stop at the intersection of College and Prairie Lea.

The officers followed the vehicle, which began to swerve from side to side on Prairie Lea and initiated a traffic stop.

The officers said they had already located an open bottle of liquor under the driver’s seat. Sowders performed a field sobriety test which the driver was unable to complete.

The driver, twenty-six year old Ryan Scott Krueger of Brenham, showed two previous convictions for driving while intoxicated.

Krueger was charged with DWI, Third Offense.

This morning at 1:58am, Sgt Curtiss Schoen was notified of a possible intoxicated driver coming into Brenham on Highway 105.

The caller said the driver, fifty-one-year old Jose Francisco Rios of Navasota, was swerving from lane to lane and driving in the wrong lane. Schoen notified other officers of the call and Officer Kevin Mertz stopped the vehicle in the 1300 block of Hwy 105.

Schoen met with the driver who initially identified himself as Miguel Rios. Schoen said he could smell alcohol on his breath and conducted a field sobriety test which Rios was unable to complete.

At the jail, Rios admitted to falsely giving his brother’s name at the time of the traffic stop.

Rios was charged with DWI; Failure to Identify. Giving False Identification and Driving While License Invalid
