BLUE BELL CREAMERIES HAVE BEGUN CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HOUSTON-AREA DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Blue Bell Creameries has begun construction on a fifth Houston-area distribution center in the Tomball area.

The building will be open at 22635 Tomball Parkway and will handle deliveries of Blue Bell products to grocery stores, convenience stores in northwest Houston, an area encompassing U.S. Highway 290 north to the Woodlands near Interstate 45.

There are currently distribution centers on 290 near Dacoma, and in Katy, Alvin and Humble, and the Tomball land has been owned by Blue Bell for about a year. The opening of the Grand Parkway will be used to run trucks from the Grand Parkway to the Woodlands.

The new branch will employ 35 people, including those who transfer from other Houston-area location. About 10 of the positions will be new.

Grocery stores and other customers will continue being served by the branches in Brenham, Houston and Humble until the new branch opens in the summer.

The building will be constructed from the ground up, so that the company can make adjustments as their needs change.
